Tips for Visiting London

My last few days in Europe were spent in London. I stayed at a cute little hostel in South Kensington, which is beautiful! London is a very large city but London’s Tube, underground, makes visiting and getting around the city easily. When visiting London I would recommend an Oyster card. Not only is the Oyster card good for traveling the underground but it can be used for buses as well! The Tube also has an app, Tube Map, which makes navigating the underground very easy.

Other helpful tips:

– Most museums and attractions charge for entrance but the National Gallery and Tate Modern are free if you are interested. I recommend taking some time to look around.

– No umbrellas: when I travel I don’t like to look like a tourist. If it rains locals will wear a hat and trench coat or grab a newspaper, never an umbrella.

– Good walking shoes

– Try new food; I recommend trying afternoon tea, fish N chips (take-a-way), and Wetherspoon (for  a good English breakfast)

– Starbucks, Burger King, and McDonalds are good places to use wifi

Traveling Around Madrid and Barcelona

I am sad to say that my adventures in Europe have ended, for the time being. I am back stateside and, I’m not going to lie, it’s been an adjustment. The last week I was in Spain I was exploring around Madrid and Barcelona.

When I was in Madrid I wanted to see as much of the cities capital as I could. I would recommend a city sightseeing tour. These buses are available in large European cities. These bus tickets are usually good for 24 hours and you are able to hop on and off the bus to explore the city. How cool, right?! I am a big fan of rooftop bars, especially for drinks before dinner. There is always an incredible view with good drink specials. No matter where you travel to in Spain tapas and wine is always a good idea. If you are lucky you can find a good sangria. Wine is so cheap in Spain, I will definitely miss that, a lot.

I was only in Barcelona for a few days, but it is a beautiful city! There are so many different places to visit and the city isn’t too hard on the eyes. Barcelona is a little bit more expensive than Madrid but I have a list of must-sees;
– The Sagrada Familia and Park Güell  were both constructed by Guadi, both are beautiful works of art. I thought Casa Mila was boring and not worth the money, just my opinion.

–  Las Ramblas is a very touristy area in Barcelona. There are many different places to shop and eat. At the end of the Las Ramblas is a statue of Christopher Columbus, near the pier.

– If you are looking for a quiet, romantic evening I would recommend a sunset boat cruise through the Mediterranean. It was not only beautiful but also relaxing. The tickets weren’t too pricey but the view mixed with the sunset was incredible.

– The Font Magica light show is a must see! I recommend seeing it.

– During my stay I would always ask the locals for recommendation for places to eat and beaches to visit. I took the train, Renfe, an hour to a small beach town. It was a beautiful and quiet beach.

Beauty: 6 Products That Help You Transform Your Everyday Makeup from Blah to Ooh-La-La (Even On-the-Go)

Event-Ready Makeup

As the weather finally warms up, all the city activities started to pick up again – from post-work cocktail hours to fancy theater night outs with friends – New Yorkers are all pumped up and ready to come out to play!  It’s only the beginning of June, I already have my calendar all booked up through the end of August with all sort of festivities, I can’t be more excited.

Since most of these events happen during the week after work, I always have to figure out a way to do a major touch up on my makeup (if not re-doing the whole makeup) to elevate my everyday makeup to an event-appropriate makeup.   If I’m lucky, I’d have some time to run home for the transformation, but in reality, most of the time I have to magically transform myself somewhere between work and the event, just like all the super…

Just Girly Things: 20 Beauty Tips For Every Girl

A Simple Dose of Reality

I’ve never been much of a beauty queen or that into makeup and such. Not until the past few years has it intrigued me so. I’ve realized though, now that I’m getting older, that grooming yourself makes you not only feel cleaner and more put-together, but can also give you a huge confidence boost. I find that simply throwing on a little mascara and blush can do wonders for my mood as well as makes me look a little more polished and fresh for the day, even a Monday (ew!).

So here are 20 products (and tips), randomly thrown together last-minute, that I like to keep handy to make me feel my prettiest.

1. Invest in a good foundation and BB cream that matches your skin tone (match to your neck). My personal favorites are L’Oreal True Match and Youth Code BB Cream, as well as my new one for…

My Travel Essentials

So I am headed to Madrid tomorrow.  But here are some of my favorite travel essentials…

My favorite carry on bag is my large Longchamp bag. It’s the perfect bag because it is a duffle, it’s foldable, and it’s able to hold everything you need.

1. Eye mask: for long flights or red eye flights it’s nice to relax with an eye mask. I usually use a face wipe and moisturizer before my nap so when I awake my face isn’t dry.

2. iPad/ books: reading material is essential. I get bored on long flights so I like to bring a variety. I also bring a travel journal on my trips, so I usual write on my flights. I also like to listen to music, so I also bring headphones too!

3. Passport: duh..

4: Charger/adaptor: you can never have enough adapters. I bought a pack of a variety of adapters and they have come in handy.

5. My goodie bag: (my bag is from Victoria Secret)

– deodorant and body spray are a must! I get nervous that I might smell so I tend to over do it.

– hand lotion/lip balm: for some reason traveling dries out my skin, so rehydrating is a must.

– face wipes: I usually also carry a moisturizer but I haven’t found a good one in Spain. But these wipes are rehydrating so that a plus!

– toothbrush/toothpaste: after my nap  I like to freshen up! It helps me not feel so blah.

– makeup: I just bring a few things; powder, blush, and mascara to help me look put together.

My attair for travel is easy, I layer. I try and wear comfortable bottoms, usually leggings. I also like to wear a comfy top and layer with a cardigan and scarf. Easy shoes to slip on and off are a good idea!
Let me know some of your favorite travel items! 🙂

Ps here is what my situation look like…
